Plans & billing

Canary9 plans scale from a free five-endpoint monitor up to enterprise-grade global coverage. Upgrades and subscription management run through Stripe, so your card details are never seen or stored by Canary9.

Plans & pricing

Free: $0

Pro: $15/mo

See the full feature breakdown on the pricing page.

Add-on packs

Pro and Startup plans will be able to extend their included limits with add-on packs:

  • +5 API checks for $7.50/mo
  • +5 browser checks for $50/mo

Coming soon: add-on packs aren't purchasable yet. They'll appear as an option on Organization → Billing once available.

Upgrade your plan

From Organization → Billing, select a plan to upgrade to. If you're on the Free plan, Canary9 redirects you to a secure Stripe Checkout page to enter your payment details.

Your card never touches Canary9's servers. Checkout is hosted entirely by Stripe; Canary9 only receives confirmation that payment succeeded, never your card number.

Once payment completes, Stripe redirects you back to the dashboard and your new plan's limits apply immediately.

If you're already on a paid plan, changing plans opens the Stripe customer portal (see below) instead, so the change applies to your existing subscription. You're never charged for a second one, and Stripe prorates the difference.

Plans cheaper than your current one show Downgrade instead of Upgrade. Downgrading also opens the customer portal, for the same reason.

Managing your subscription

From Organization → Billing, select Manage subscription to open the Stripe customer portal, where you can:

  • Change plans: move between Pro, Startup, and Enterprise (contact sales for Enterprise).
  • Update your payment method: replace an expiring or declined card.
  • Cancel: cancel anytime. Your plan stays active for the rest of the current billing period; at the end of it, your organization automatically moves to the Free plan.

Billing FAQ

How does proration work?

Stripe prorates plan changes automatically. Upgrading mid-cycle charges the difference immediately; downgrading credits the difference toward your next invoice.

What happens to my checks if I downgrade?

New checks can't be created or re-enabled beyond your plan's limits. If a downgrade (or removing an add-on pack) leaves you with more active checks than your new plan includes, the most recently created checks over the limit are automatically paused within minutes, and your longest-running checks keep monitoring. Paused checks aren't deleted: re-enable any of them after upgrading, or pause different ones to choose which stay active.

Check frequency is handled differently, because there's a middle ground. If a downgrade leaves a check running faster than your new plan's fastest interval, Canary9 slows it to that interval within minutes rather than pausing it, so your monitoring keeps running, just less often. Upgrade again and you can set it back.

What happens if a payment fails?

Your subscription moves to past due and Stripe automatically retries the charge over the following days. Update your card from the customer portal to clear it. If retries are exhausted, your organization downgrades to the Free plan.

Where do I get an invoice or receipt?

Every successful payment's receipt is emailed by Stripe and also available from the customer portal's billing history.
